The Crisis of Ageing – We all face it

November 18, 2020 9:38 AM
By Alison Simpson

We face a crisis. Many, many, more of us are heading into old age, or caring for those who are. There's more to worry about than a few wrinkles…

Folk who all their lives have worked and contributed (in the broadest sense) to our society deserve good choices when we become frail and vulnerable.

COVID-19 has exposed weaknesses in the system - how we address both the need for strong support at home, and arrangements for respite and long term care.

Carers are lonely, and desperately in need of a helping hand.

I chaired a home care Charity for several years and now support two eighty-something parents, one with vascular dementia. I know so many who are in the same boat.

Sooner or later its something most of us will face. We need to distribute Government resources generously and thoughtfully.

Please give your Vote to me.

As we all head into old age, I'll highlight the need for dignity and care, whoever's in charge.
